You have a director's eye

Hey there, lovely piece of work here - you really have a great directorial eye (after just seein' this and tinman) and a solid stylistic understanding of where you are right now in your animation. Loved the piece, have you considered smoothing out the end of the music (at the end of the flash)? Minute difference that can give the viewers a much sounder closure on it - otherwise, loverly.

BlackmarketKraig responds:

Thanks a lot, man!

Yeah, that (the music at the end) has been bothering me for awhile now, I think I had the volume on my monitor too low when I was working on this and now I would really like to get it corrected...

However, if I went into the old .fla file and started messing around to get the music smoothed out, I'd probably want to fix up a few other things as well (convert movie clips into graphics, smooth out some of the images, get a proper perloader in there, maybe add a play/pause/rewind control strip...) I think I'd wind up wasting days or weeks getting it to where I would like...

But since I'm really pretty busy with stuff right now I think I'd better not do it.

Hmmm.... Now I'm thinking about redoing the whole thing from the beginning when I have time... this is YOUR fault! Just kidding. ;)

Thanks for reviewing. ^_^

Good technical work, sir

Hey, spiffy flash you got here - decent voice acting too, for the most part - gotta say, though, it's wierd to see flash on the portal being used as a venue for religious statements - I'm glad to see that you feel vehemently enough to air this, so more power to you. What's your goal with creating this piece, I'm curious - hope to hear back, eh?

inevitability responds:

What's my goal? Hmm. I couldn't really answer that with a coherent statement. Yes, I want to send a message across. To both parties. Those who don't believe in God. And those who believe in him, but don't do things right. They think they can conquer the world... Our saviour was crucified... he told us to die to ourselves. But these people dont seem to understand.

My message was simple: Our kingdom is not of this world. The kid is killed, there isnt a miracle that saves him (As most religious would want to). But he gained more than our eyes can see ("For me to live is Christ, and to die is gain"). To be here, is an opportunity. And to die is even better, because he gets to be with his Lord...

Something like that I guess...

-Blessings.

P.S: Thanks.

Solid work, with chance for growth

Really nice piece, good basic idea for a storyline. Good character design, and animation, though some of the speech, etc., is a little choppy, a little streamlining and attention to the minor details can go a long, long way. Look forward to seeing the rest of the piece, i enjoyed the rest of your posted body of work.

Magical, sir

Incredible work! Your choice of music (incredible props are due for using Yoko Kanno and Yan Tiersen in the same movie) fit the piece perfectly and did naught but heighten the experience of the viewer. Solid, emotional message, well illustrated, with some minor jumping errs, but that's probably just my machine, and are so incredibly excusable for a piece like this that it makes me laugh. Congratulations, great to see some truly meaningful flash work being done on this site agian. Best of luck in the future.

Holy fucking moses

...I am so much stupider for having seen that, I think you MAY, just may, want to consider shoving a fork in your eye and sit around holding it steady in the emergency room wondering how you'll look in a jaunty eyepatch then make another flash movie. Such a shame, such a shame.

Art without statement isn't art, folks.
